Mark and Mya’s Adventure to Vancouver

by Mark & Mya's Adventures | Dec 17, 2018 | Canada, Destinations, Vancouver

Vancouver is by far the easiest way to travel in and out of Canada from Australia. It’s ironic that I’ve been through Vancouver almost a dozen times now and hardly spent any time actually exploring it. So when the opportunity to spend six days in British Columbia’s...

Can you believe it snowed yesterday at Mt Buller, Can you believe it snowed yesterday at Mt Buller, Australia? The middle of summer and we got snow! What's the weather like where you are? We had planned to head to Bindaree Falls in the Mansfield State Park, but decided with the weather we would hold off for another time. It wasn't so bad though, we got to spend the start of the morning playing in the snow and the rest of the day chilling in the lounge resting. Do you think Mya had been missing the snow? What have you gotten upto over the weekend? Please note: Dogs at Mt Buller require a permit issued by the alpine resort management board and to be on leash in a designated area. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
During Mya's life, she's met alot of amazing peopl During Mya's life, she's met alot of amazing people. But you don't have to be famous to be amazing! All you need to do, is something that will leave the world better than it was the day before. That could be spreading love with hugs, like @scoutgoldenretriever. It could be making people laugh, like @ghengasaur. Or leaving each place cleaner than you found it, like @andrew__muse. Regardless of how you do it, it'll never involve violence. I try and stay away from politics on here, but regardless of what side of the fence your on, violence only brings more violence. Despite all that is going on in the world at the moment, we hope this post helps you smile today! We hope that it encourages people to think about their actions. We hope that you all have a better tomorrow! #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Do you think Mya loved Gippsland? The area has be Do you think Mya loved Gippsland? The area has been hit very hard over the last 12 months, with bushfires and covid19 having a major financial impact on businesses that rely on tourism. Mya and I explored part of Gippsland during a 4 day road trip. We started in Melbourne and drove a 861 km loop going as far east as Lakes Entrance. Highlights for us were:
▪︎Agnes Falls
▪︎Sunset from Bullock Island
▪︎Paddling along the Gippsland Lakes
▪︎Walking Ninety Mile Beach
▪︎Wakeboarding in Paynesville
▪︎Wildlife on Raymond Island
▪︎Petersons Lookout We've posted the the trip as a route on Road Trips by @TomTomDrivers. You can check it out by swiping up in our stories or highlights. Whilst it's exciting to be able to travel again, please check any local travel restrictions before hand. https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/travel-covidsafe-summer Have you been to Gippsland before? Did we miss anything? Do you have any questions about our trip? @TomTomDrivers #RoadTripsByTomTom #TomTomDrivers #GetBackToGo #NoPawGetsLeftBehind #Sponsored
Goodbye 2020. 2020 has been one of the most chall Goodbye 2020. 2020 has been one of the most challenging years of our lifetime. Whilst it's been a year of mandatory masks & restrictions, looking back it hasn't all been bad. ▪︎Michelle & I made it to Japan for a week, where we skied some pow & met some of the snow monkeys.
▪︎We travelled as a family to Portsea, where Michelle & I completed our PADI scuba diving certification.
▪︎We caravaned along The Great Ocean Road & checked out the 12 Apostles.
▪︎Then COVID19 & lockdown hit. We had to cancel our road trip around Australia, & spent almost 8 months stuck at home.
▪︎Mya & I got to take Ed to the snow for the first time, when we did a photoshoot.
▪︎Our family purchased a small apartment at Mt Buller, which meant Mya was eligible for a permit, & able to join us for the first time.
▪︎We went 4x4 driving across to Craigs Hut, which was quite the adventure.
▪︎Mya helped us pick up some trash, & showed dogs aren't all bad for the environment.
▪︎We went on a family road trip to Lakes Entrance, explored 90 Mile Beach, paddled in the lakes, Michelle learnt to wakeboard & we checked out some of the wildlife on Raymond Island. We've had to adapt to family dinners over Zoom, staying local & social distancing. For us it's been the support of each other, & the support of our community that has gotten us by. When COVID19 hit & we had to cancel our trip around Australia, I honestly thought that would be the end of us sharing adventures & travel tips on social media. Some people have lost interest over the 12 months, but many have continued to support us durring some very challenging times. We want to thank you all for that! We also want to thank some of the brands that have supported us. It's quite expensive maintaining a website, purchasing photography equipment & actually going on some of these adventures. Without their support we wouldn't have been able to achieve as much as what we have. A big thank you too:

@PaynelessMedia As for 2021, we are trying to be optimistic & look forward to sharing new adventures with you. Wishing you all a happy & safe new year!
Would you like a 2021 calendar? I know it's very Would you like a 2021 calendar? I know it's very late, but we had a few requests and I didn't want to disapoint. It's the same digital format that we have done in the past. We like this format, as people don't have to pay postage and can simply print it at home, or at their local print shop. This year we have only made an A3 version, but have done an Australian calendar, aswell as a best of the northern hemisphere calendar. You can swipe across to see a preview of them Let me know what you think? In return all we ask for is a donation (Any value you see fit) to one of these two causes that we felt could really use your support: 1. Sweet Shepherd Rescue.
An organisation that rescues and finds forever homes for Shepherds of all sizes and colours. These guys do alot of work with White Shepherds and we love them for it. 2. Steve Lee Fightback
Steve Lee is a former Olympian and had offered to take Mya and I out on a backcountry tour last year. Sadly Steve suffered a massive stroke in September and is paralysed down his left side. He is needing financial support to help with ongoing treatment, support and assistance to get him back to something that resembles a normal life again. Have you heard of Sweet Shepherd Rescue or Steve Lee before? We haven't had a chance to setup a website to manage downloads or donations. Simply tell us you'd like a calendar in the comments below and we will send you a direct message with a drop box link where you can download the calendars from. No need to send through receipts etc we trust you all, and feel that together donations as little as $1 will make a big difference. Let's all hope for a better 2021. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Merry Christmas! Mya has heard tonight is the nig Merry Christmas! Mya has heard tonight is the night, where the big fat guy travels around the world breaking into houses. She might be super social out in public, but at home she takes her responsibility of protecting our house very seriously. She's managed to keep the postman at bay, aswell as the magpies and possums. Tonight she will protect the house from the fatman. Well as long as she can keep her eyes open. On a serious note. We are going to take a day off Instagram tomorrow to spend it with our family. We hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
What will your Christmas look like? Christmas 202 What will your Christmas look like? Christmas 2020, will be a Christmas like no other. After some tough lockdowns, many Australians will be lucky enough to be able to spend Christmas with their families. We will be hosting our family Christmas (10 people and 6 dogs) for the first time and I am very much looking forward to it (we still have alot of cleaning up to do beforehand). I know not everyone is so lucky! Our friends in Sydney dealing with the latest outbreak and our friends throughout the rest of the world dealing with their second waves, are stuck in some very challenging situations. In Melbourne we had pretty much 8 months of lockdown, with some pretty tough rules. Family dinners meant take away in front of a tablet, with a zoom call and it felt like it would never end. Despite all that we made it through and I hope it can give hope to our friends who are in the challenging times now. Regardless of what is going on, I hope you still manage to find a way to connect and celebrate with your family and friends. Thinking of you all. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Have you ever experienced a white Christmas? Only Have you ever experienced a white Christmas? Only three more sleeps until Christmas. Today is a throwback to our white Christmases in Canada. Who would have thought a pup from Australia, would ever experience a white Christmas. Do you remember any of these moments? These memories make me smile and I hope they spread a little joy. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Have you ever tried wakeboarding? Is it your sort Have you ever tried wakeboarding? Is it your sort of thing? My partner Michelle hadn't, so Mya and I took her to Paynesville to give it a go. Paynesville is located in Gippsland, about 45 minutes from Lakes Entrance, or 3.5 hours from Melbourne and is right next to Raymond Island if you'd like to combine the day. I booked a couple of hours with Clint's Ski School. He was great and was quite happy for Mya to join us out on the boat. Note: Mya's dog flotation device is a must when out boating. She is a big pup and without the handle on the DFD, I'd never be able to pull her back into the boat without it (we got ours from @petstock_australia). I was impressed with how quickly Michelle picked it up. By the end of the lesson she was out on the long rope at the back of the boat, and even started riding switch. Afterwards we had a nice lunch at the bakery across the street from the Jetty. Be sure to keep your pup on your leash, as there was alot of swan nests, with chicks and eggs. Is there something in Paynesville that we missed that you would recommend? Do you have any other tips? There are four mour days until Christmas. Should we keep posting travel content or share some Christmas photos too? #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Have you heard of Raymond Island, Victoria before? Have you heard of Raymond Island, Victoria before? I hadn't, but the pet friendly 6km long island in Gippsland, is full of Australian wildlife and is definitely worth a look. To get to the island, you'll have to take the island ferry from Paynesville (45 minutes from Lakes Entrance or 3.5 hours from Melbourne). The ferry departs every 20 minutes or so, and is dog friendly (on-leash). Pedestrians and cyclists are free, however we recommend taking your vehicle which will cost $13 for a return trip. We drove a full lap of the island and saw so many koalas, kookaburras and kangaroos. Any idea what Mya was looking at in the last photo? If you choose to leave the car behind, be sure to check out the Koala trail starting from the ferry. Whilst dogs are welcome, they are required to be on leash, which is essential for the safety of the wildlife and your dog. Did you find this post helpful? Do you have any other tips for Raymond Island? Are you a fan of wildlife photography? Have you got much planned for the weekend? #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
