Big White Mountain Resort, Canada

by Mark & Mya's Adventures | Jun 5, 2018 | Big White, Canada, Destinations

Big White Ski Resort was our next stop after Silver Star and in our opinion this would be the most dog friendly resort in Canada. Big White is about a 45 minute drive from Kelowna in British Columbia, making it fairly easy to get to from both within Canada and...

Please STOP and read this. Have you seen all our Please STOP and read this. Have you seen all our posts and stories lately? The Instagram algorithm is always changing and picks and chooses which posts it wants to show you. In the past this has lead to people missing the opportunity to meet Mya when we were visiting their city, and it reduces the support available to us to keep on creating new content. If you'd like to show us your appreciation for creating content and make sure you keep on seeing our adventures in your feed, you can turn on post notifications, by going to our account and selecting the bell icon in the top right corner of the screen, and then turn on notifications. Finally please interact with our posts, if you don't interact with our posts, Instagram assumes you aren't interested in seeing then anymore. Even if you have some constructive feed back we would love to hear it. The second image in today's post shows how the new algorithm works, and how you can show your appreciation to keep us in your feed (without us having to pay Instagram to share our post). We really value the community around us and appreciate all your support. Be sure to let us know if you found this helpful?
Happy National Love Your Pet Day Whilst I'm no ex Happy National Love Your Pet Day Whilst I'm no expert, I simply try to include Mya on as many adventures as possible. If she is with her family, I know she feels loved. How do you show your pet that you love them? #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Happy Valentines Day I honestly couldn't keep up Happy Valentines Day I honestly couldn't keep up with all the amazing messages of congratulations and well wishes for the future that we received earlier in the week. If I haven't messaged you back individually, I wanted to thank you now. I'm so lucky to have these two amazing girls in my life. I love them both so much, and whilst our Valentines day will be spent in lockdown, atleast I have their company. I had these incredible romantic and amazing adventure plans for today, but I guess because of the lockdown they will just have to wait until next year 🤔. In the meantime I'm just going to remember when I got to show them this incredible place. Any idea where it might be?. P.S. Mya is hoping @kickerdogmuse might be her Valentine. What do you think he will say? #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
My mummy said yes! We've had so many adventures t My mummy said yes! We've had so many adventures together and we can't imagine a future without her in it. We both love her so much, and I'm so glad she said yes to marrying him. P.S. a huge thanks to @CarleyPaynePhotography for secretly snapping these special moments for us. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
God sent angels down to Earth in the form of dogs, God sent angels down to Earth in the form of dogs, with notes saying don't judge, just love. They ate the notes, but keep trying to deliver the message! Last weekend Misch, Mya and I had a date night, we went out for dinner in the city and then made our way to the Moonlight Cinema where we watched the @TopDogFilmFestival. I felt so content watching all the films with Misch on one side of me, and Mya on the other, giving me a cuddle. If you've seen Mya's film in the festival, you might recognise @ambpitch and her pup Ariel. They took us on a hike in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. And whilst little Ariel is no longer with us, the lessons she taught so many are. Amber and Ariel didn't need to take time out of their weekend to show Mya and I around the mountains of New York, but they did and we appreciate that so much. Ariel showed Amber how much a little rescue pup, can change ones life for the better! Amber recently adopted a new dog called Sage. It's been beautiful watching them get to know each other, and seeing how the lessons Ariel taught Amber are still playing a part in their lives. I hope the beauty of these two pups, of the gorgeous Adirondack Mountains reminds you today that there is still beauty in this world. I hope you smile and I hope you make someone else smile today too! #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
This Melbourne born pup has been on some serious a This Melbourne born pup has been on some serious adventures around the world. Seeing her story on Instagram is one thing, but watching on the big screen will be something else. Tonight the Top Dog Film Festival will be screening at the Moonlight Cinema in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth (sorry Tasmania) and you have an opportunity to watch Mya's story and seven other short films about the connection between dogs and their owners. The last twelve months have been tough, but our hard work has meant that events like this can finally go ahead again. We will be at the event in Melbourne in the Royal Botanical Gardens at 845pm, if you decide to come along please say hi. I'm sure Mya will love to say hi. You can get tickets from www.moonlight.com.au If your in Australia, or know an Australian please share this with them and help inspire others to know that there is no reason to leave your pup behind. Will you be able to come tonight? Have you seen any of the films in the festival already? Do you have a favourite memory of Mya's Adventures? Do you know where this photo was taken? P.S. this is a pup friendly event! #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Happy Australia Day! Whilst today is controversia Happy Australia Day! Whilst today is controversial for some, it's the only day we have at this point, and I'm really glad and proud to be Australian. Although our history isn't perfect and it's important to acknowledge that, we are a very lucky country. We really want to hit the road again, meet our fellow Aussies, see our country and turn these virtual photos into real memories. Hopefuly 2021 will be the year. I hope these photos put a smile on your face. P.S. If you haven't already seen our post from yesterday, be sure to check it out for tips to help with fireworks. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Save This One For Later This Tuesday is Australia Save This One For Later This Tuesday is Australia Day, which also means fireworks. Ever since Mya and I got caught outside with fireworks at Niagara Falls, she's been quite reactive to them. I now do my best to plan ahead, and make things less stressful for her. Our friends at @PETstock_Australia asked if we could share our tips for making fireworks less stressful: 1. Speak to your local council and find out if there are any local fireworks displays being held, and the time of those events. This will assist you with planning. 2. Walk your dog during daylight hours to avoid being outside during fireworks displays. 3. Create a quiet safe space; I'll be closing windows, curtains and setting up Mya's crate. 4. Use distractions such a turning on the tv or radio, and treat toys. For some dogs this will be enough, but for Mya she needs just a little bit more reassurance. A while back we had people suggest we try an Adaptil collar, which we have been using for the past year, and it has really helped. The collar has an artificially created pheromone, which female dogs naturally create for their puppies to help reassure and calm them. We thought this time we would head to @PETstock_Australia and try out the Adaptil Spray. The staff at our local store suggested we could spray it on a bandana for Mya to wear and in her crate. Be sure to watch our stories and see how she goes. Is your dog reactive to fireworks? Do you have any other tips? Have you used the Adaptil Spray or Collar before? What was your experience? Do you have a preference for either product? #PETstockAustralia #Sponsored
This week Melbourne is going to be getting some ve This week Melbourne is going to be getting some very hot days, which got me thinking back to a 40°C (104°F) day which we went hiking to a lake. Whilst hiking we met a family with their staffy. The poor staffy could hardly walk, it's paws were covered in blisters and bleeding and it seemed to be dehydrated too. In comparison Mya was hiking with us fine, she had a set of dog hiking boots on that protected her paws from the scorching hot ground, and was carrying her own supply of water to keep her hydrated. We were also choosing to stay within the trees and out of the direct sunlight, whilst having regular stops. If you can avoid being out in the heat please do, but if you cant please remember to check how hot the ground is. I think a good general rule is if we need it, our furry family members probably do too. Whilst at home I also use sprinklers, shell pools, frozen kongs and a cool mat. If you know people getting a new dog or who would benefit from this information please let them know. Do you disagree with anything we have said? Do you have any other tips for keeping our furry family members safe over summer? Any idea where this photo was taken? #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Today we thought we'd share with you our family's Today we thought we'd share with you our family's little mountain apartment up at Mt Buller. It's a one bedroom apartment (comfortably sleeps 4 people) with a kitchen, lounge room and bathroom, and only a short walk to the village square. It's been alot of hard work to buy it and get it to the state it's now in. But we are really proud of how it's come up, and more importantly that it now means we don't need to leave Mya behind. Our family will be renting it out when we aren't using it. Sadly other than for Mya, it won't be pet friendly at this time (The Alpine Resort only offers dog permits for long term rentals or residents, so the decision is out of our control). If you are looking at visiting Mt Buller in either summer or winter, please check out @st.anton.311 We've done our best to make it cozy, but if you can think of anything that it needs we would love to hear your thoughts? Finally I want to encourage you all to dream big. People told me that I couldn't travel with Mya and we made that happen, I told myself that I'd never be able to afford an apartment up at Mt Buller, but again with hard work and persistence we made it happen to. Don't ever let anyone tell you, that you wont be able to achieve something. If you're determined enough, willing to think outside the box and put in the hard work anything is possible. To everyone who supported and encouraged us, helped us brainstorm solutions to problems, put in the time and effort to help make this a reality for us; thank you. #DreamsCanComeTrue
