Can you understand this bond? "I am your friend, Can you understand this bond? "I am your friend, your partner, your dog. You are my life, my love, my leader. I will be yours, faithful and true, till the last beat of my heart. I am your dog!" Surely our dogs deserve the same back from us? It's this very reasoning that keeps me trying to ensure Mya is living her best life. I wanted to dedicate this post to all the amazing dogs that have touched our hearts. Whilst their lives maybe short, they have the ability to have huge impacts on our lives and us on theirs! Be sure to send this to someone who has had a dog touch their heart. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
“Such short little lives our pets have to spend “Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.” – John Grogan What will you do this weekend to show your pup, that you appreciate having them in your life? This photo is a throwback to our 2018 Fall trip to Lake Louise. If I'm to be honest, I don't think Mya cared how beautiful the place was, that we travelled all the way from Australia to Canada to get there, or that the canoe cost over $100 an hour to rent. I think she only cared that she didn't get left behind, and that she was able to be with me @banff_lakelouise #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Have you seen the loveable dog movie Oddball? How Have you seen the loveable dog movie Oddball? How stunning is this coastline? Have you heard of, or ever been to Warrnambool before? We spent the last couple of days there. If you've never heard of it, it's one of the stops along The Great Ocean Road, that I've always dismissed as being too far (despite the inland route only being 3 hours from Melbourne). It's the home of Oddball, a renowned spot to watch whales, and has some of Victoria's most beautiful coastlines. We checked out:
▪︎Logans Beach (off leash)
▪︎Magic Rock (on leash)
▪︎Childers Cover (on leash)
▪︎The Cove (on leash) We also visited Thunder Point and viewed Middle Island from the lookout. The island (semi famous) from the movie Oddball, where a Maremma was trained to protect the resident fairy penguins from foxes. If you haven't seen the movie, we highly recommend you check it out. We stayed at a cheap @AirBnB called Farmstay Lanaud. Whilst the decor was similar to my grandma's house, and it could do with a bit more cleaning, it was only $117 per night, 10 minutes out of Warrnambool and Mya was welcomed. There were plenty of other petfriendly options too. We ate at The Whalers Hotel and Bojangles Pizza Restaurant who both had dog friendly seating. I've also been told the Deep Blue Hot Springs is worth checking out, but that will have to wait until next time. Do you have any other tips for Warrnambool or the surrounding areas? Do you have any favourite photos from today's post? A special thanks to @aussie.sedona / @jordanandjessica who joined us yesterday. Without their help, we would have never seen as much as we did. If you haven't come across their social accounts before, I highly recommend checking them out. @VisitWarrnambool #HolidayHereThisYear #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Have you heard of, or been to Sandy Point? Last w Have you heard of, or been to Sandy Point? Last week we made our way to Sandy Point, which is about a 2.5 hours drive south of Melbourne, in Gippsland. We had goals to find some amazing sand dunes, that I had seen on Instagram (thanks to @chief_theaussieshep), but sadly didn't quite get there. Instead we had a pretty relaxed time, and took Mya down to the off leash dog beach, where we played frisbee. She was stoked and ended up so sandy. We stayed in a pet friendly @airbnb called Quirky. Whilst we had to take our own linen and struggled to get phone reception, the little cabin was fully fenced, had pretty much everything we needed and certainly lived up to it's name. Do you like the quirky theme? We think we will head back to Sandy Point in the future, is there anything you would recommend for us to check out? Do you have a favourite photo from our trip? I really love the first one with Mya and Michelle in the background. P.S. A huge thanks to @aussieinnapa who brought a replacement frisbee for Mya after hers was stolen. P.P.S. If you head to Sandy Point please be responsible and obey the leash laws. The vulnerable hooded plover nests in this area, and Parks Victoria has blamed dogs in the past for their decline. @sandy_point @visitgippsland #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Peekaboo - It's April Fools Day Have you been cau Peekaboo - It's April Fools Day Have you been caught out by an April Fools Joke today? We had a big prank to play today, and got a couple of people durring the first 5 minutes of our post. I was more impressed with those who picked it straight up away. In saying that, someone suggested it may upset some people and that is the last thing we want to do, so I just deleted it. Our big news today, is that we have no big news and we are chilling out at Sandy Point, Victoria. P.S. we posted twice yesterday. Be sure to check out Mya's Easter bunny and tell us about your Easter plans. P.P.S Mya still hasn't had her puppies from last year. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Easter is coming, but the rabbit may not. Are you Easter is coming, but the rabbit may not. Are you all set for Easter? We recently made our way to @PETstock_Australia to finish off some last minute shopping. I have some dog friendly Easter treats for Mya (Please remember chocolate is poisonous for dogs) and a new soft toy for her to play with. Do you have plans for Easter yet? Pictured:
▪︎Masterpet Cuddles - Squeaky Plus Rabbit Dog Toy (Large)
▪︎Pooch Treats Sparkle Egg Dog Gift Pack PLEASE NOTE: NO RABBITS WERE HARMED WHILE TAKING THESE PHOTOS. @PETstock_Australia #PETstockAustralia #HappyEaster #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
Have you been to Craig's Hut before? The hut was Have you been to Craig's Hut before? The hut was made in the 1980s for the film The Man From Snow Rivery, and offers stunning views of the Victorian high country. It's located about a 3.5 hour drive from Melbourne, in the Mansfield State Forest (dogs are permitted on leash). Initially it's sealed road from Melbourne to the Mt Buller & Mt Stirling Resort Entrance, after that it's dirt road. Thelast stretch of the road is a 4WD track, if you dont have a 4WD there is a 1.2km walking trail from the Circuit Road. Please note that if your pup is joining you, you can't stop whilst travelling through the alpine resort unless you have a dog permit. If you're interested in staying the night, there is a camp ground a couple hundred meters away from the hut. Be sure to save this post for later and to forward it on to anyone you know who might find it helpful. If you visit please remember to take any trash home with you, so we can keep this special place beautiful. Is Craig's Hut somewhere you would consider going? Is there anything else you would like to know about the trip? If you've been to the Mansfield State Forest, do you have any other recommendations? #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
2021 Update A year ago today, we planned to be he 2021 Update A year ago today, we planned to be heading off on our Australian adventure. We were all set to go, and then days before we were scheduled to leave, we had to make the unfortunate decision to walk away from our plans because of COVID19. Whilst it was disappointing, it was the right call to make at the time, and we have been far luckier than many other people. We had hoped going into 2021 that we could make our plans a reality, but whilst Australia is certainly a lucky country compared to others, the opportunity hasn't come to be. Unstable borders across Australia, and the loss of two key business partners has meant that 2021 still isn't the right time for this trip to happen. So in the meantime our plan is to stay positive and keep travelling locally as much as we can. We are grateful for how lucky we have been, our family is still all together and we are looking forward to winter and the opportunities it will bring. To everyone who has stuck by us over the last 12 months, thank you for your continued support. I'm sorry we aren't delivering on our promise to share pet friendly travel tips around Australia right now and hope you can be patient with us in the meantime. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
What do you need for the perfect picnic? Our thou What do you need for the perfect picnic? Our thoughts:
✅ Great location - dog friendly high country views
✅ Great company
✅ Great food - @Prime100Petfood for Mya and Cheesecake for Mark Here are some shots we snapped from our picnic yesterday at Craig's Hutt. What do you think? I do my best to give Mya the best quality life that I can. That means I try to include her in my life as much as I can, and I feed her quality food. I feed Mya a single protein diet from Prime100. She gets a mixture of treats, kibble, raw and cooked rolls. The things that I love about the Prime100 range of products are:
▪︎Many of the products are hypo allergenic & recommended by vets for dogs with skin or digestive issues.
▪︎They are made from human quality ingredients.
▪︎Prime100 is Australian owned and prepared locally in Melbourne. Since Mya has been eating Prime100, she has had the energy to live a happy and active life, her coat has been healthier than ever, she has had better digestion and requires less food with each meal than previously. What do you look for in pet food? Has your pup tried Prime100? What did you think? P.S. Don't forget, the final screening of Mya’s Story at the @TopDogFilmFestival, is being held in Melbourne this Wednesday 24th March 2021 at 7:15pm. Check out our last post for details and the chance to win two free tickets to the festival. @Prime100Petfood #NoPawGetsLeftBehind #PoweredByPrime100
Have you had someone help shape your life into wha Have you had someone help shape your life into what it is today? For me it would be my parents (who taught me morals and gave me so many opportunities), my grandfather (who fostered my love for the outdoors), an old vet friend (who told me Mya's happiness was my responsibility), a couple of ex girlfriends (who made me think it was just Mya and I against the world), Misch (who showed me what love is) and of course Mya. Have you had many people shape your life? For Mya I've had a huge impact on her life! She could have been a dog who spent her entire life in our backyard, never knowing anything more than the four sides of our fence. She could have been left wondering why I gave her up, after rehoming her so that I could go travel. Infact there are so many could haves. Instead, she has been my best mate, my family. She's travelled from one side of the world to the other, and joined me on more adventures than I can count. Her story is being shown as a short film in The Top Dog Film Festival. The last screening of the film festival is in Melbourne at the Astor Theatre on Wednesday 24th March 2021 at 7:15pm. MYA & I WILL BE THERE! I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have and Mya will happily give out some free kisses and dog cuddles. To celebrate the @topdogfilmfestival with Mya and I, are GIVING AWAY 2 FREE TICKETS to the screening. To enter the giveaway, simply tell us someone who has impacted your life and tag two friends in a comment. You can also help as many people as possible to know about the festival by saving this post, forwarding it onto anyone you know who lives in Melbourne or any groups, sharing the post in your stories, or even just by leaving an emoji behind (All this tells Facebook and Instagram they should show this content to others). We will announce a winner on Monday 22nd March 2021. If you don't want to wait, you can buy tickets at: https://events.humanitix.com/top-dog-film-festival-2020-melbourne-astor-wed-24-mar-7-15pm/tickets #NoPawGetsLeftBehind
